Fishing is a sport that can be enjoyed by everyone. All that’s required for a fun day on the water is a few essential pieces of fishing gear such as a rod, reel, line and bait. With the help of FishingGearCo, you’ll be stocked up on the most essential gear and out on the water in no time. We are pleased to provide you with a large selection of quality fishing gear ranging from fishing rods and lures to fishing reels, lines and other fishing accessories.

Perhaps the most basic piece of fishing gear is the tackle. Like most fishing components, tackle can be as simple or complicated as you want. The most basic forms of fishing tackle are the hook and sinker. Hooks are used by many beginning fishermen as well as those who prefer to fish using the float fishing technique. Once you cast your line, your hook is able to go deeper into the water at a faster rate with the help of a small weight, called a sinker.

No fishing pole would be complete without a fishing line. There are three main types of fishing lines that a fisher can choose from: braided fishing lines, monofilament fishing lines and fluorocarbon fishing lines. Braided lines are often used for their strength, however, they are not as popular among fishers as monofilament lines and fluorocarbon lines. Unlike braided and fluorocarbon lines, monofilament fishing lines are more flexible, which helps when reeling in larger fish that put up a struggle. The flexibility of the line will allow you to continue to reel in the fish while the line is stretched and weighed down, without worrying about whether or not it will snap under pressure. While monofilament fishing lines are the most popularly sold fishing lines, fluorocarbon fishing lines are continuing to grow in popularity because they are least likely to alert fish to your presence because the fishing line appears to be nearly invisible when in water.

Now that you have your hook, line and sinker selected, the next step is to select a rod and reel. A fishing rod is a pole which helps hold your fishing line, lure and bait. The most common types of fishing rods are fly rods, trolling rods, spinning rods and surf rods. Each rod has it’s own purpose depending on where you plan to fish and what type of fish you want to catch. Like fishing rods, there is also a large selection of fishing reels available to fishermen. Also like fishing rods, the type of fishing reel you choose will also depend on where you are fishing and what type of fish you will be catching. However, the most popular fishing reels are spinning reels, underspin reels and baitcasting reels.

Whether you’re heading to the local lake for a day of relaxation and fishing or if you’re heading to the ocean for some fast-paced and thrilling deep sea fishing, one this is certain: your fishing trip won’t be complete without the proper fishing gear. Thankfully, FishingGearCo carries a large selection of top of the line fishing gear from some of the must trusted names in the business.
